Cornwall - B-Day

Alô meus queridos.

Esta semana foi o meu aniversário e tive uma surpresa fantástica. Cornwall já tinha sido assunto várias vezes desde que me mudei para Inglaterra mas por diversos motivos foi uma viagem que tinha sido sempre adiada até que recebi a surpresa que ia celebrar o meu aniversário no tão famoso Algarve de Inglaterra. Cornwall fica no sudoeste da Inglaterra e é um destino muito popular e muito famoso pelo surf. É certo que não fica ali ao virar da esquina, foram quatro horas de viagem mas vale a pena. 

Newquay foi o primeiro destino, as praias de areia clara são um sitio perfeito para uma caminhada à beira mar, muitos surfistas e um numero considerável de pessoas na água. Confesso que eu só molhei os pezinhos e até nem estava muito fria mas não me quis aventurar mais. O hotel escolhido foi o Cliff House mesmo de frente para o mar.  Podem ver aqui. O pequeno almoço é delicioso e os donos são super simpáticos e muito dispostos ajudar com informações. Recomendo.

Para jantar em Newquay recomendo o The Fish House Fistral com vista para o mar também e classificado como o melhor em termos de seafood de acordo com o Tripadvisor. Podem ver aqui. Um ambiente fantástico, comida divinal. Engraçado que tivemos que jantar na esplanada uma vez que que já não havia reservas no interior. Vento muito vento, cobertores à mistura, aquecedor mas um sunset brutal e que valeu a pena. 

Dia seguinte foi dia de rumar até St. Ives, perfeito para um passeio à beira mar, vistas deslumbrantes, ruas encantadoras com muita história, lojas tradicionais, e os pescadores que dão um encanto especial. Quem vai a Cornwall tem que experimentar o tão famoso pastel de Cornwall, um pastel genuíno que possui um inconfundível formato em D. O recheio é feito de carne moída, rutabaga ou nabo, batata e cebola, com um tempero levemente apimentado. Confere!

Hey guys!

This week was my birthday and I´ve had a fantastic surprise. Cornwall had been a subject several times since I moved to England but for various reasons it was a trip that had always been postponed until I received the surprise that I was celebrating my birthday in the famous Algarve of England. Cornwall is in the South West of England and is a very popular destination and very famous for surfing. It's not right around the corner, it was four hours of travel but well worth it.

Newquay was the first destination, the sandy beaches are a perfect spot for a walk by the sea, many surfers and a considerable number of people on the water. The hotel we chose was the Cliff House)with stunning sea views. You can see it here. The breakfast is delicious and the owners are very friendly and very willing to help with information. Highly recommend.

For dinner in Newquay I recommend The Fish House Fistral with sea view too and once again rated it the best in terms of sea food according to TripAdvisor. You can see it here. Cosy environment, delicious food. Funny that we had to have dinner outside as there were no reservations inside. It was windy and cold but with a few blankets, heat on we had the most amazing meal with a great sunset! It was worth it. 

Next day we head off to  St. Ives, perfect for a seaside walk, stunning views, charming streets with lots of history, traditional shops, and fishermen who give a special charm. Whoever goes to Cornwall has to try the Cornish Pasty, a genuine pastel that has an unmistakable D-shape. The stuffing is made of beef, turnip, potato and onion, with a light seasoning of salt and pepper. 

Cornwall was a really good birthday surprise. I loved it!
